Smokin Wanjala

He is the holder of a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B Hons) from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Law and Practice from the Kenya School of Law, a Masters of Laws degree (LL.M) from Columbia University, New York and a PhD in Law from the University of Ghent, Belgium.
Dr. Wanjala was a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Nairobi (1986-2004) where he offered instruction in International Law, International Human Rights Law, Land Law and Criminal Law. Between the years 2004 and 2009, he served as the Assistant Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission where he was in charge of the Directorate of Preventive Services. He is a member of the Kenya National Academy of Sciences, the International Commission of Jurists-Kenya Chapter, and the Law Society of Kenya.
Since 2009, Dr. Wanjala has served as a leading consultant in governance, human rights and anti-corruption issues in Kenya and the Eastern African Region. Dr. Wanjala is currently a Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya (the highest court in the land), having been appointed in that capacity on 16 June 2011 following the promulgation of Kenya's new Constitution on 27 August 2010.
