Moritz Birk, LL.M.

He is Head of the Department "Human Dignity and Public Security" at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights, leading research projects, consulting and training worldwide on human rights and the prevention of torture and ill-treatment. He joined the institute in 2009 as assistant to the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. Before he volunteered with the UNHCR and human rights organisations in Ghana, Mexico, Senegal and Sweden. He holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law (Lund University), a German law degree (Humboldt University) and is certified as Systemic Organisational Consultant (ARTOP Institute, Humboldt University). He lectures on human rights at Viadrina University, Danube University Krems and on systemic leadership at New York University.
