Dr. Nikolaus Forgó

He studied law, philosophy and linguistics in Vienna and Paris. In 1997 he received his Dr. iur. (Dissertation in legal theory). From 1990 until 2000 he was an Assistant professor at the University of Vienna (Austria). In 2000, he became a full Professor of Legal Informatics and IT-Law at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. From 2007 to 2017, he was the co-dean of the Institute for Legal Informatics. Since October 2017, he has been Professor of IT- and IP Law at the University of Vienna, where he founded the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation of Law. His publications, research, teaching and consulting experience extends to IT-law, legal informatics, civil law, legal history and legal theory at the national and international level. However, the main focus of his research includes all aspects of data protection and data security issues.
