Mag. Dr. Paul Gragl

Lecturer in Law at Queen Mary, University of London, and holds a Mag.phil. and Dr.iur. degree from the University of Graz (2008 and 2012, respectively). Prior to joining Queen Mary, he was a Teaching and Research Fellow at the Institute of International Law and International Relations of the University of Graz, Austria (2010-2012), where he also completed his doctoral thesis on EU accession to the European Convention on Human Rights. From 2012 to 2013, he held the post of Research Fellow at City University London, starting his research on the relationship between Public International Law and the EU legal order. Paul Gragl works primarily within the field of EU Constitutional Law specializing, in particular, in EU human rights law and the relationship between EU and public international law. He also works in public international law, specializing on international legal theory, the sources of international law and the relationship between international law and domestic law. He is the author of the monograph ‘The Accession of the European Union to the European Convention on Human Rights' (Hart Publishing 2013) and has published widely on EU human rights law, including articles on EU accession to the ECHR and Protocol No. 16 to the ECHR.
